Back to Homeschool Blog Hop: Curriculum

BacktoHomeschool

Welcome to day two of the Schoolhouse Review Crew's Back to Homeschool Blog Hop.  Today we are talking about curriculum.  I am a curriculum junkie (I review curriculum for a hobby, lol) and I really love reading other's curriculum lists.  So, I have no problem sharing ours with you!

Mustang {First grade-ish}

Bible:
Arch Books, Little Visits with God, AWANA Sparks, still kinda looking for the best fit.  We go back and forth with these.

Phonics and Spelling:
 Montessori Green Series, using the FREE set from The Helpful Garden
 Phonics Level B from The Wright Skills  I found the blackline masters set at a yard sale for $3.00 and it works great with the Green Series!
When she gets through the Green Series we will be moving on to Montessori Grammar

Writing:
First Start Reading, though designed as a reading program, it is a great fit for us with writing.  She is in book B.  I expect to finish B and C by Christmas.  Afterwards, we will be looking for a good copywork program.

Creative Writing:

Reading:
Five in a Row.  We will be choosing from Volumes 1, 2, and 3 based on the books we own.  She will be creating lapbooks using materials found on Homeschool Share.

Math:
She is working her way through the Montessori Materials.  Currently she is doing Dynamic Subtraction with the Stamp Game.

Art:
and I just picked up Feed My Sheep and hope it will be a good fit for her, it is for a little older then her, but she is very good at art.

Culture
 History, Science, Geography, Social Studies, Music, etc, we are following the curriculum plans of Just Montessori

Keyboarding:

And, lots of cool goodies we are blessed with from the crew!

Charger {K4}

Mostly what Mustang is doing.  AWANA Cubbies.

He is working his way through the Montessori math materials, currently on the 1000 chain.

Mini Cooper {Pre-K}

Be a baby and don't grow up too fast :). Actually she isn't listening and is growing very fast!!

So that's the run down, I am sure I missed something.  I'd love to hear what you are using!  If you wrote a post on yours, let me know so I can come read!!

If you'd like to know what other crew members are using this year, check out the links below.  Have fun hoping!

God Bless!

Disclosure:  I received many of the products in our curriculum line up for free in exchange for a review.  Apologia Who is My Neighbor?, First Start Reading, Before Five in a Row, Artistic Pursuits, WriteShop, Keyboarding for the Christian School, and All About Reading.  We loved them and we kept them in the mix!

  4. This is my first year homeschooling my daughter, and I have to say I was pretty stressed out this week getting ready for it. But after reading your blog post, I feel like I have a better idea of how to approach the educational year. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your methods and lessons with your readers.
