School Day

We are back to school after a relaxed December.  Still don't have a 'school room' but, surprisingly, schooling in our living room seems to be going pretty well.  Here are some highlights from the last couple days.

I finally decided that I am not going to purchase the Metal Insets anytime soon.  When trying to choose which items to spend my money on, knowing that I owned all the Geometric Cabinet-and that they were virtually the same-I just couldn't see purchasing the Metal Insets, too.  I would like to purchase some stands, eventually.  I bought my Geometric Cabinet without the cabinet-long story-that was my first ever Montessori purchase and I can't believe it happened.  I'll explain some other day, lol!

So, I finally presented the Metal Inset work.  I have seen this with small pieces of paper and with big ones.  I am starting with big, will eventually go to smaller.

Let me tell you, they were a hit!  We had Metal Inset drawing for a loooong while.

Mini Cooper working on her parts of flag book.  Turned into Mini Cooper decorates many flags book-I kinda liked it!

Another 'inset photo.' I tried to get it up with the others and it won't budge.

I finally bit the bullet and ordered the COMPLETE bead material-not just the short chains and squares.  I purchased them from Allison's and, while I'm not unhappy with them, I wish I would have purchased the ones from Kid Advance instead.  I will explain in another post.

Mini Cooper loves looking at the Canadian coins from our North America Continent box.  Probably, because it's the one 'real' thing in there so far.  I used to live in Canada and these were my birth year coins.  Not sure my dad knew I'd eventually use them for a school learning tool, but I'm glad to have them.

Enjoying the new bead materials.

I was told this was a factory and the pink squares are going down the conveyor belt.

Mustang could have 'worked' with the beads all day.

Letter review with PAL.

Number layout!

Hard at work with her parts of a flag book.

I think this says it all.

Thanks for stopping by!!!  Happy Schooling and God Bless,

We only have the geo cabinet, no metal insets! I just saw some plastic metal insets on eBay, might get those as right now my daughter's interest is at an all time high. I still haven't bought the beads... Still waiting!

I can't believe how much your kids have grown ... they all look wonderful, as usual! I love to see such awesome examples of Montessori in action. I think using the geometric cabinet shapes for metal inset work is a great idea. You really don't need both in a homeschool. Thanks so much for linking up with Montessori Monday.
