Four Cow Farm Natural Baby Review, Discount Code, and Giveaway!! {closed}

Now that we are awaiting baby number 5, I am already looking at all the sweet things for babies.  So, when this little bundle of goodies from Four Cow Farm arrived at my door, I was pretty excited!

Four Cow Farm was started with a lady who was a Midwife, Mum, and Grandmother.  She wanted to have natural, safe, balms and creams to use on her grand babies :).  Yes, I said Mum.  She is from down under in Australia, and the Four Cow Farm is a real place!  Now, the entire family is involved in sharing the products she made with other families around the world.

Since the baby is not yet here, I have been using the products on Explorer who deserves great products as much as the baby :).  And, we have been very pleased with our experience!

This little pamphlet was actually one of my favorite items in the box.  I have to admit that, even though I am a country girl, I am not very knowledgeable about 'natural' products.  Sure, I know that if I grew it in my backyard garden it is organic, but when it comes to lotions and creams, I just go with the sticker on the container.

When I read over this information, I learned a lot about the quality ingredients that are used in the Four Cow Farm products, and why it is important that they were used.  It goes on to explain why some products on the market today are not truly 'natural,' and why we can be harming our babies when we are trying to protect them.  This great brochure is free, and can be downloaded on the Four Cow Farm website along with other helpful brochures about caring for Eczema in children.

In addition to the helpful information, my lovely package included Baby Wash, Baby Oil, Nappy Cream, Baby Lotion, Calendula Remedy, and Tea Tree Remedy!!  I am sooo set for this new baby.  It was certainly like an early Christmas when it arrived at my door!

My first reaction was how pretty the bottles are!  I am a sucker for eye catching packaging and these certainly passed the test. They LOOKED natural, soothing, and sweet.  My only job, then, was to put them to the test!

Perfect timing for our review, Explorer got a lovely little diaper rash from her runny nose (thanks to the change of seasons), so I was able to try out the Tea Tree Remedy.  I can tell you it was much different from your traditional, white toothpaste looking, diaper rash cream.  It's made from Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Castor and Macadamia Oils, All-Natural Beeswax, and Organic Tea Tree Pure Essential Oil.  It is soft, creamy, and looks like something you WANT to put on your new baby's bum, or your own skin!  Tea Tree Remedy can be used for bites, scrapes, and cold sores!

I am pleased to say that the rash cleared right up, and I could also tell that she felt relief from the Tea Tree Remedy.  One diaper change Daddy didn't use it and she complained until he did.  I loved that it didn't smell like medicine, or anything else for that matter!  It just has a mild warm smell.  This is by design since new babies can't handle strong smells-something that so many 'baby' companies seem to forget!

The Baby Wash was another quick favorite around here.  Now, my first using I messed up a bit.  I didn't read the instructions ;).  I put it on Explorer's head and it didn't lather up like I had hoped.  THEN I read that you were supposed to lather it in your hand before applying.  Yep, that worked like a charm!!

I used it on both Explorer and Mini Cooper's hair since they still have baby fine hair-it would not have worked well on the thick hair of Charger or Mustang.  It left their hair nice and clean, not oily at all, and it is scent free.

But, my very favorite is the certainly the Baby Lotion!!  It does have just a slight scent, probably the sweet almond oil that is part of the ingredients.  I love it!!  It doesn't take a lot and covers nicely, but doesn't leave an oily residue.  Best part, is that Explorer's normally dry skin is back to silky smooth.  Love!!

Each of the Four Cow Farm products would be a great purchase for your new sweet babe, or make a great gift for a new baby in your life!!  The prices are very affordable, starting at around $13.50 depending on which product and size you purchase.

The Baby Kit makes a perfect baby shower gift for a new mom to be!  It includes Baby Wash, Baby Lotion, Baby Oil, and Nappy Cream.  It retails for just $59.90.

TOS Review: Beeyoutiful

Since the name of my blog is 'Our Country Road' you probably think we grow all our own food, milk our own cow, and raise chickens.  You likely think we have this natural product thing down.  The fact is, aside from knowing that if it comes out of my own garden it's probably good to eat, I'm lost.  Case and point, my recent adventure to the natural organic section of our grocery store netted me 3 boxes of cereal, 2 boxes of crackers, and a package of organic lollipops.  Let's just say, I've got a loooong way to go before I'm a good 'natural' country girl! So, when I was asked if I'd like to try products from Beeyoutiful, I was excited.

Beeyoutiful is a company that produces a large line of natural products designed to help you and your family feel beautiful from the inside out.  With everything from lip balm, to probiotics, to natural oils, to makeup and everything in between, there are products to help with many areas of wellness.

Beeyoutiful sent me a package of items to try with my family.  We received Berry Well, Miracle, Ow-Ease, Lip Balm, and Beeyoutiful Views DVD.  It was kinda like Christmas opening my little box of treasures.

Berry Well

Berry Well is an organic Elderberry syrup that contains Propolis, Raw Honey and Echinacea.  It also includes Raw Apple Cider Vinegar.  It is designed to keep you from getting the flu!  You can take it all the time or specifically when you are starting to feel ill.  Steph from Beeyoutiful does such a great job of explaining their products.  This is her explanation of Berry Well.  For each of the other products, just click on the product description link and it will take you to a page that contains the video about that product.

Since it is fall here in the Mid-West, I've already put Berry Well to use a few times!!  First of all, it tastes so good!!  (Kids think so, too, so keep it out of their reach).  A few times I've felt a little run down and took a spoonful of Berry Well.  Each time, I did not get sick.  Even yesterday, when we came home from a long outdoor parade in 40 degree weather, I took a spoonful.  I have a slight cough this morning, but nothing serious.

Berry Well is great to keep on hand, especially this time of year.  It retails for $19.70 for an 8 ounce glass bottle.  Discounts are offered if you order additional jars.

Miracle Skin Salve

Miracle Skin Salve is a skin rub made from Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Plantain, Organic Comfrey Root, Propolis, Lavender Essential Oil, and Rosemary Oil.  It is designed to be used for cuts, scrapes, bites, burns, psoriasis, eczema and more.  The natural ingredients promote tissue repair, reduce swelling, and relieve pain.

Miracle is the product I have the most to say about!  One day while cooking I managed to pour boiling water on my hand!!  I, thankfully, remembered the Miracle we had just been sent.  Right away, I spread the salve on my burn.  The pain went away and by morning it looked almost completely healed!  I was very pleased!!

We have also been using Miracle on a cut of Mustang's.  It seems to be healing nicely.  I'm hoping this helps the cut not to scar.  The cut is on her face and no one wants a scar there!

Miracle can be purchased in a 2 oz container for $15.00 and for $25.00 for a 4 oz.

Ow-Ease

Ow-Ease is designed to ease your pain away.  Apply to bruises, goose-eggs, strains, sprains, or even just achy muscles from gardening or body building.  Made from beeswax, olive and coconut oils, along with wildcrafted Arnica.  Ow-Ease reduces swelling, relieves muscle pain, and reabsorbs trapped fluids from tissue and helps to erase bruises!

Ow-Ease comes in a stick applicator and reminds me of the spot cleaner commercials where mom is wiping away a stain before it starts.  With Ow-Ease you can wipe away a bruise before it starts.  Pretty neat!

It took me a bit to try this one.  I am used to just kissing a boo boo and letting it heal on it's own.  I didn't know which injury to try it out on.  Then I realized I have a place on my shin that has had a bruise on it for a very long time.  I'm actually thinking it's part bruise and part varicose vein.  It hurt when touched and had a little swelling to it.  It didn't hurt unless you touched it.  I decided to give Ow-Ease a try there.  To my surprise it was almost completely gone the next morning.  There was still a small knot, but it was not black and blue, and it didn't hurt!

I've also used it on some of my back and shoulder pain with mixed results.  Maybe it really wasn't intended for that use, but it did seem to help some days and not others.  I did rub it over my ankles after walking in the parade yesterday and the Ow-Ease seemed to help.

Ow-Ease retails at $15.00 for a one ounce container.

Lip B.A.L.M.

The last of my skin care items was Lip B.A.L.M or Beeyoutiful All-Natural Lip Moisturizer.  Lip B.A.L.M. is made from Grape Seed Oil, Beeswax, Shea Butter and Essential Oils.  Offered in Orange and Peppermint, it retails for $3.00 each (discounts for 3 or more).

I have to say I only got to check this out once :(.  I happily placed it in my purse, excited that I had some sweet smelling, natural moisturizer for my lips.  It made me feel a little special to have a safe product for my skin.  Unfortunately, like every other lip product that I put into my purse, my children found it and made off with it.  The comforting side is that I'm not afraid to have my children use this product on their lips.  I'm going to have to order myself some more, though!!

Beeyoutiful Views

We also received a DVD called Beeyoutiful Views.  This DVD contains product explanations and demonstrations from nutritionist and owner Stephanie Tallent.  These same videos can be seen on the Beeyoutiful web-site with each product description or on their YouTube channel.  But, if you don't have high-speed Internet this might be a great way to learn about the Beeyoutiful products.  Maybe good to pop into the DVD at your MIL's house to give them hints on Christmas gifts, too :).  Price is just $3.00.

Overall, I was quite pleased with the Beeyoutiful products we received.  The products all smelled wonderfully, were well packaged, and seem to help in their intended ways.  I am looking forward to continue using them with my family, and would recommend them to others!

Many of my crew mates reviewed products from Beeyoutiful.  Check out the crew blog to see what they reviewed and if they liked them or not!

Thanks for stopping by!  God Bless!

TOS Review: The Reading Game

Last week, my Charger turned 4 years old!!  Can you believe it?  Time is FLYING, I must be having a lot of fun :).  As he is getting bigger, I am starting to notice a slight interest in learning to read.  Interest as in doesnt RUN in the other direction anytime I pull out something that 'looks' educational.

He has never been much of one to like worksheets-a complete opposite from Mustang- so, I have had to find other methods of introducing concepts to him.  I prefer to use games, puzzles, and other activity trays to help him learn.

When I heard about The Reading Game, I thought this could be a great tool for Charger, and I was not disappointed!

What is The Reading Game??

The Reading Game is a fast action memory card game.  It includes a series of six beautifully illustrated storybooks.  After completing the first memory card game series, the student has learned 30 new words..  The Skunk, the first book in the series, is told using only those 30 words.  Upon completing the program, a student will know 180 words and be able to read all 6 books in the set.

The Reading Game was created by Kenneth Hodkinson who also created  Wordly Wise.

What did we think of The Reading Game?

Well, The Reading Game showed up at our door just before Charger's birthday, so I decided to hold it as a gift.  He was very excited to get a 'reading' game for his birthday.

We opened it up and set a game between the two of us.  He won-of course :).  He surprised me by already knowing a couple of the words and being interested to learn the others.  Since then, we have played many games of The Reading Game.  Charger has been quite interested in learning the words-and beating me :).

Due to his age, I think it will be awhile before he can read one of the books, but he has been VERY happy to show Mustang each new word he learns to read.

The Reading Game is a completely sight word based game.  I used to be against sight word learning and phonics only, but I have changed my tune as I watched what knowing a few sight words did to Mustang's interest in learning to read.  If you are looking for a really fun and creative way to learn new sight words, then The Reading Game is for you!

The Reading Game retails for just $24.95.  They offer a discount of 15% off for orders of 8 or more. It would make a fun gift for your little student this Christmas!

If you would like to read more reviews of The Reading Game before making a purchase, check out The Old Schoolhouse Review Crew Blog.

Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless!!

TOS Review: The Person I Marry from Bower Books

My children are just starting to 'think' about marriage.  You know, the times when they honestly think that they will marry their brother or sister when they grow up.  And, in our case, if they cant marry their brother, they will just marry the neighbor boys.  It's quite humorous to hear Mustang mention in a matter-of-fact way that she will marry the funny boy at AWANA, or Charger, or maybe even Daddy. But, I know that her heart is already starting to form a 'list' for her prince.  I want to be able to help her form that list into one that will have a Godly, wise, and loving husband who isnt perfect but IS Heaven-sent.  The Person I Marry is the perfect book to help her mold that 'perfect' list.

As parents of 12 children and grandparents of nine, Gary and Jan Bowers have used their God-given talents to provide an amazing resource to talk to your children and teens about marriage.  Jan Bowers' beautiful paintings illustrate 35 pages of character traits to look for in a spouse, written by her husband of 32 years, Gary.

Here is a little video to tell you about the book.  WARNING, you may need a tissue!

I must say, that I think every Christian couple needs this book in their home.  It is the kind of book that you lay on the coffee table and hope that visitors pick up and read.  The Person I Marry describes God's intentions for marriage in simple but challenging words.  It carries the kind of message that I hope my children will have ingrained in their thinking from the very onset of 'marriage' thoughts.

While reading The Person I Marry to my children, I realized that though written on a child's level, I got so much out of the book that they did not.  I was challenged while reading to make sure that I am being the kind of wife my son should be looking for when he chooses a wife, and the kind of wife that I promised my husband I would be when I married him almost 11 years ago.

Winner of the 2010 Christian Small Publisher Book of the Year Award, The Person I Marry and other Bower Books have received raving reviews from Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar, Gary Smalley, Eric & Leslie Luddy and more.  The Person I Marry is a beautiful book both inside and out.  The pictures are breathtaking and the story line is perfect.  It is a must have for any family library.

The Person I Marry, by Gary Bowers, illustrated by Jan Bowers, can be purchased from Bower Books for just $11.99.   And, they are currently offering free shipping on orders over $30.00. It would make a perfect gift, especially for a wedding.

If you would like to read more reviews on The Person I Marry, check out the TOS Crew Review Blog.

God Bless!!

TOS Review: Wits & Wagers Family

We were recently sent a cute new family game for our game night, Wits & Wagers Family from Northstar Games.

Wits and Wagers is a trivia game with over 300 family friend questions.  Once a questioned is asked, each person or team writes their answer down for all to see.  Then, they wager who has the right answer.

Wits and Wagers has the CUTEST game pieces called Meeples.  Mini Cooper was happy to play with the ones we werent using while we played the game.

Even the guess cards have the adorable Meeples.

Our over all thoughts:

My thoughts-I really loved the game itself.  It seemed that North Star Games had done a wonderful job of presenting a cute, eye appealing game.  The instructions were super easy to read and understand, and game play was very straightforward.  I personally enjoyed the fact that it was a trivia game, as I tend to know lots of strange, useless trivia.  I also appreciated that even if you didnt know the answer, you still had a great chance of getting points in the wager portion of the game.

Mustang's (6 year old) thoughts-She loves the little cards to write her answers.  She thinks the questions are funny.  The game is technically for age 8 and up, so she played on my team.  She understood HOW to play, but the questions werent things she would have known how to answer.

The husband's thoughts-Well, he didnt like it.  He likes trivia, but more history type trivia.  Trivia he deems 'useful.'  When the first question was: 'How old was Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly) when she started her show?'  and it was followed up shortly after by 'What year did Barbie get a belly button?", DH was completely turned off by the game.  And, I guess the cute little Meeples are not as thrilling to a guy.  YES, the girl's team won, so maybe that had something to do with it? :)

So, sadly, he wouldnt play again and it left me unable to play again since, though she was interested, Mustang couldnt play alone.  I am looking forward to the holidays and hope that others at the family gatherings will want to play, because I really did like the game and would like to play it more.

Unlike my husband, MANY people have enjoyed the original game Wits & Wagers.   It is the most award winning party game in history.  It has been featured in Real Simple, USA Weekend Magazine, on the Today Show, and on Dave Ramsey!

Wits & Wagers Family is the same game, with a few changes to make it even more family friendly.  You can read more reviews of the game at the TOS Crew Review Blog.

Wits & Wagers Family retails for $19.99 and is sold at many online retailers.  I think that Wits & Wagers Family would make a great family gift this Christmas!!  God Bless!

Book Review and GIVEAWAY!! Gabby, God's Little Angel by Shelia Walsh

I'm really excited that today I get to tell you about one of the cutest books I have read in quite awhile!   Gabby, God's Little Angel arrived at our home last month and my little angels have loved getting to know her.

Gabby, God's Little Angel was written by Shelia Walsh, the creator of the award winning Gigi, God's Little Princess which my girls also love.

Here is a little clip from Shelia Walsh, herself, about Gabby, God's Little Angel:

This first book in a delightful new series offers a comforting message for young readers-God loves you very much and is always watching over you!

What little girl wouldn't love her very own guardian angel? Parents and children alike will be won over by this humorous tale of Gabby, a guardian angel in training who has much to learn about taking care of God's little ones. Her new assignment is to protect a young girl named Sophie, but Gabby soon realizes that watching after Sophie is a bigger challenge than she had expected! After a close call while riding her pony, Sophie learns what the Bible says about guardian angels: "He will put his angels in charge of you. They will watch over you wherever you go" (Psalm 91:11 ICB)

What we thought of Gabby, God's Little Angel:

Overall, I think this book is super cute!!  The message of the book tells little girls (and not so little girls) that God loves them, and is always watching over them.  It introduces the idea of guardian angels by introducing us to Gabby, the guardian angel of a little girl named Sophie.

My girls enjoyed the bright, colorful photos, and that Sophie rides horses in the story {my girls love horses}.  Gabby, God's Little Angel can be a great way to start discussions about guardian angels and the way they help the Lord and us.

Probably my only reservation with this story is that this little angel is a child, and a clumsy one at that.  IF you were looking for a completely accurate theological book for your child, this may not be on your list.  But, if you are okay with a little imagination in the mix, this is a great choice for your library!!

Gabby, God's Little Angel retails for $14.99 and would make a great Christmas gift, or maybe an extra fun First Communion gift!  You can currently find it at Christianbook.com for just $9.99!

Book Review: The Money Answer Book by Dave Ramsey

When I worked as a loan officer and as bill collector {just a job please dont shoot me}, I was amazed at how little some people cared about their personal financial situations. On the other hand, there were many who DID care, but had no idea where to start looking for answers in the huge world of finances, money, savings, investing, retirements, loans, credit scores, etc. The 'money' world can be quite scary.

Dave Ramsey, a leading financial expert, has written 'The Money Answer Book,' to help anyone and everyone charter the waters of the money world.

He covers questions such as:

"What are Debit Cards?"

"Do I need separate checking and savings accounts?"

"When should I start giving my kids allowance?"

"What is the envelope system?"

and

"What is a will?"

He also gets into more uncharted territories such as:

"I'm deceiving my spouse about money, how can I come clean?"

"My spouse just left me, how do I protect my credit?"

"Aren't private schools and private lessons and investment in my child's future?"

"How can I invest in Mutual Funds with companies that align with my spiritual values?"

and

"Is it acceptable to 'pause' tithing in tough financial times?"

My favorite question is "What's the most important financial principle?"

The layout of "The Money Answer Book" allows for a read through or a quick reference and would make a great gift for say a COLLEGE GRADUATE. This book will give you all the info you need to get started in making a budget and wise financial decisions.

As Mr. Ramsey puts it "Personal finance is 80 percent behavior and only 20 percent head knowledge." The Money Answer Book will give you much more then the needed 20 percent :)

'Get smart. Get motivated. Get going!'

Dave Ramsey

Review: Life Application Study Bible NLT

I have had the same Bible since Christmas of 1996. It is inscribed with my maiden name in gold lettering on the front. It was a gift from my high-school sweet heart, complete with a little letter in the back {dont tell my hubby mmm-k?}. I read it {nearly} every day, make notes in it, underline things, highlight, etc. Its well loved and well used. I'd been feeling like maybe it was time to replace the beloved friend, so I jumped at the chance to review this Life Application Study Bible {NLT} from Tyndale House Publishers.

Can I just say this Bible is BEA-U-TIFUL?!! Oh my goodness, I dont remember being more impressed with the look and feel of a Bible-ever {and I once worked in a Christian book store, so that's say'n something.} The soft, leatherlike feel is so silky and smooth, but the color is what I loved the most. On the front, the Lord's Prayer is written in a circular pattern, giving the binding a modern edge. It is also a 'Personal Size,' and is just a tad smaller and easier to carry then the standard sized Bible. My husband was sitting with me when I opened the Bible, and he was very impressed. It has a very masculine feel, and I think it would make a fantastic Father's Day gift!

By getting a new Bible, I will not have to give up any features as I have used a Life Application Study Bible for years. I love the footnotes, character studies, the summaries at the beginning of each book, the time lines, the maps...there is so much to love about the Life Application Bible. That's probably why it's the #1 best selling study Bible.

I am also looking forward to finally having my own Bible in the New Living Translation. I have had an NIV for years, but my hubby has had the NLT and I am looking forward to making the switch to this easy to read, yet accurate, translation.

Overall, I loved the Life Application Study Bible NLT Personal Size, TuTone. I would recommend it specifically for that special man in your life. It would make an excellent Graduation, Birthday, or Father's Day gift. God Bless!

Thank you to the Tyndale House Publishers for providing me with a complementary copy of the Life Application Study Bible for my review. I was not paid for my review and the opinions expressed are my own.
